Why doesn't my phone ring on incoming calls?

I have a Google Nexus S with T-Mobile as my carrier. The problem is that the phone doesn't always ring when calls come in. All other notifications work (including vibrate) and it doesn't matter is I change ringtones, etc. The "failure to ring" seems random but sometimes happens on the first call I receive during the day.

Umm, you're ahead of me there. I haven't done anything to the phone other than accept updates to IceCream Sandwich. So I think the answers to your questions are, No and stock?

Here's the info:

Android version: 4.04

Baseband version: I9020XXKI1

Kernal version: 3.0.8-g6656123 android-build@vpbs1 #1 Thu Feb 2 16:56:02 PST 2012

Build number: IMM76D

Does that tell you anything?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Libby. I'd be happy to help out. First of all, is the phone rooted? Are you running a custom ROM or a stock ROM? It sounds like its most likely a software issue.

hmmm well the info you gave just tells me that you have a stock Nexus S (GSM) ICS ROM. This might be a long shot, but have you looked in the sound settings for a "Vibrate + Ring" option. Also make sure your phone isnt in "Silent Mode."

My Samsung SGH A887 does not ring.

I looked and it is in the normal mode.

Can you help me with this?
