So originally the power button stopped clicking and then eventually had to push it so hard I thought my fingertips would bleed. I just replaced the power cable and it clicks but doesn't do anything. I checked the connectors but did I miss something here??

Try to unscrew a little until you get a click the two screws that hold power button bracket to the frame.
