little tear in LCD-screen cable, touchscreen doesn't work, related?

When I was replacing my front-screen I had some trouble getting the cables trough the little 'hole'. after a lot of trying, I succeeded. But when I looked at the cable, there was a little tear in it, and now my touchscreen isn't working.

Is it related? and is there any way that I could fix it?

At least this was the part you were replacing to begin with. Next time will go much better, we learn something from each repair.
