Nintendo’s first major revision of the 3DS released to Japan in October of 2014 and to North America in September of 2015. The 2015 3DS introduces improved 3D capabilities, a C-Stick, new internal amiibo support, and a new set of trigger buttons.

New Nintendo 3DS xl Y button not working tried the usual whats next

So I have tried cleaning the board contacts, changing the dome sticker. making sure the ribbon/flex cable is on correctly, I ordered a new board same issue. Im currently waiting on a new flex/ribbon cable. but the one I have im not sure shows signs of issues. is there any next steps to try or trouble shoot before I have to just get a new main board?

all the other buttons and functions from that board are 100% fine is really just the y button.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Oh shoot I forgot to reply here if anyone faces a similar issue. Then try either changing the main board ribbon cable port/connector. As a temp fix you could also just add something in to apply more pressure to make sure the connector is making contact. I had a friend do the temp fix and it worked like a charm manage to revive a lunala solgaleo new 3ds xl.

Hi!

Did you managed to fix your New 3DS now? It could be related to the cables yes, which is most likely the issue here.

Thanks!

I did yes. had to make sure the ribbon cable was making proper contact on the main board end. had to add some paper in between the cable and connector to make sure there was enough pressure and the ribbon cable making enough contact. until I can find someone to fully replace the connector on the main board.

Alright, clear! Then it is the connector. Glad that you were able to fix it with a temporary fix :)! Please let us know if you found someone who is able to fix the connector! For this, micro-soldering is required.
