iPhone storage full even after iCloud backup and photo sync, cannot up

Hi, I’m having an issue with my iPhone storage.

My iPhone storage is almost full (around 118/128 GB), and I can’t update iOS because it says there’s not enough space.

I already:

  • Upgraded to 2TB iCloud storage
  • Enabled iCloud Backup (currently backing up around 59 GB)
  • Turned on iCloud Photos and synced all my photos

However, my iPhone storage is still full and not decreasing at all.

Is iCloud backup supposed to reduce iPhone storage?

And what is the best way to free up space so I can update iOS without deleting important data?

Here's a link that has a few ways to increase storage in the phone that you might not have tried e.g. Optimize Storage feature, use external storage etc.
