How did you prove that it is not the fan?

There are two fans in the laptop (see image below) so it could be the other one.

Also the fans are the only moving components in the laptop. All the rest are solid state i.e. no moving parts.

Here's a video that shows how to teardown the laptop so that you can check where the noise is coming from more easily.
