A1706 / EMC 3071—Released in November 2016, this 13" Macbook Pro introduces the OLED Touch Bar. Features a dual-core "Skylake" Intel Core i5 CPU and four Thunderbolt 3 ports.

Who can analyze these Photos of display error. Flexgate related?

I already ordered a new flexcable for backlight connectivity but before starting this annoying process....and searching again for my exact error picture somewhere and anywhere.. I have doubts if this looks like a flexgate symptom at all Did anybody ran into this failure ever before and can give me his knowledge about what causes it? Computer turns on like a charm, screen does not show any normal behaviour ( no matter in whatever angel the Monitor is opened) though and jumps right into this "compressed stripe mode" I can "see" haha rather "feel" that the start up or even homescreen is loaded but that stripe is only about 3.5cm thick ( Photo) .And yes, external Monitor connected works 100% fine.

Sadly, this is not a backlight flex cable issue, or a bad LCD drive line flex cable. This looks like the T-CON board has failed more precisely the clocking logic within it.

You verified that when you hooked up an external display and got a clean image within it. So you never get a viable image on the internal display based on what you posted.

The only way to fix this is replacing the entire display assembly as the T-CON board is the dangling piece that sits inside of the uppercase MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar Late 2016 Display Assembly Replacement. Many people just don't bother fixing this series and just use it like a desktop as the cost of the display is so high.

Thank you for this perfect answer . Unfortunately I had this apprehension.. :(

BUT I found a store checked assembly

with a bit warranty for 89 .- $

Question: It is from an A1708 mid 2017

Would this work inside my A1706 ?

The old touch bar I have can be re-used , right ? since it is a separate part ?

Found it all out trusting Gemini on this ,

so yes mid 2017 assembly works and the touch bar I have already can be re used..

Hope there are no catches to this info.. :)

@arnembusch I would say the different Mac Models have different screens and would not be compatible or even fit correctly. @danj who will confirm this.

@arnembusch - Your in luck! The 2016 and 2017 share the same display assembly. Yes, it's a direct swap!

The TouchBar is not related here, we are not touching it and you don't even need to disconnect the logic board! Just follow the guide I gave you the Blue URL above, it will walk you through the process.
