I turned my iPod off and suddenly it won't turn back on!

I turned my Ipod off and when I pressed all the buttons and switches and it didn't turn on so I thought I just had to charge it but this morning after it spent all night being charged it didn't turn on again, what the &&$$ happened, how can I get my Ipod to work? I even tried to hook it to the Itunes store and nothing happened.
