A wireless, more traditional, video game controller produced by Nintendo for the Switch system. Model number: HAC-013.

Battery drains after analog stick replacement

I replaced the analog sticks in my Pro Controller but now the controller drains the battery, from full to dead in just a few hours - not being used, the Switch is off, the controller is off. I've confirmed the battery does charge to full and works fine for gaming. I've switched the battery itself with another controller and confirmed that's not the issue. The controller works fine plugged in as well. It's just a matter of the battery draining quickly while not in use.

Did I mess something up when I replaced the analog sticks? Is there anything I could check or do to try to correct this issue?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi!

Did you damaged a trace there? Would check that first! If not, try to replace the sticks again and see if that makes a difference.

Replace the battery for a brand new one, does this change anything for your controller?

Would try that first! Can you let us know how that goes? Thanks!

I didn't see any damaged traces but I could take a picture tonight and post it here if that'd be helpful - not sure if y'all could spot a damaged trace from a picture or if there's a way for me to test traces.

I did say in my post that I changed the battery and it was the same behavior (and the old battery in a different controller had no issues so I'm pretty confident that's not the issue).

When you say to replace the sticks again do you mean to take them out and re-solder them or to replace them with different sticks entirely?

I'm new at electronics repair/dabbling so any insight is helpful! Thank you

Alright, if that is possible please!

Ah, I thought you only tested the old battery in another controller, sorry! Then we do know for sure that it’s not battery related if you tested a new one in your repaired controller.

Yes correct. Please try a new stick by replacing it completely.

Thanks!
