Power Adapter won't charge Mackbook 2.1 Model # A1181?

June 27, 2012

I took my Macbook to the Genius's at my local Apple Store, they told me it is not the Battery, it is in the Computer.

My MacBook 2.1, is Model # A1181, and takes an A1185 Battery, I tried a new Battery it shows a Charge on Battery, but when I plug in the Charging Adapter, the little Green light does not go on, and the computer says, "Not Charging". What can I do to fix it myself?

Apple wanted $280.00 to repair the Macbook 2.1

The Genius at the Apple store tried another Power Adapter, but it would not charge the battery, he tried my power adapter in another machine and the Green LED light came on, it did not come on in my computer. This all started with a bent AC plug, which Apple replaced. Apple keeps saying it is in the Machine. Can I repair this myself, I have worked with electronic parts for over 40 years.

Please E-mail me at: Mellw@comcast.net with an answer.

Thank you,

First use a toothpick and check the pins on the MagSafe Adapter to see if they a re fully extending. Next check the output with a voltmeter. Pins #2 &4 should show 16.5 volts. I would next replace the DC-IN board, here's how: MacBook Core 2 Duo Magsafe Board Replacement

Yes I have.

Can you recommend someone in Boynton Beach Florida that can fix my PC? I saw something about Staples fixing the Apple machines.

Is it worth fixing this Macbook 2.1?

Ok. It's not possible for me to recommend any repair place in Florida, because I live in France :)

I highly suggest that you do it yourself as "mayer" explained it to you.

It's chipper and not very difficult. In case you do it yourself: be patient and careful.
