Hold switch not working but headphone jack is fine

I modded my iPod 5th gen a couple years back and everything has been working fine. Today I tried use the hold switch, the switch itself still moves but doesn’t do anything. Headphone jack is working fine. Any way to check this without ordering a new part?

Answer this question I have this problem too

@trinityhughes you'll have to disassemble your iPod and take a look at the switch. You should see how the button clips on the switch (step 16 in the guide). Make sure that the switch actually moves when you move the button. After that you could in theory test the switch with a multimeter to see if it opens and closes the circuit, when it is engaged. Ultimately, I'd use this iPod 5th Generation (Video) Headphone Jack & Hold Switch Replacement to fix it.
