A television game console produced by Sony Computer Entertainment, also known as PS4. First announced February 20, 2013 and released November 15, 2013.

PS4 will not turn on.

My PS4 will not turn on. The light bar lights up for a split second then nothing, no beeps. I've replaced the power supply because I thought that was the issue. However it did not fix it, Seems pretty clean inside so I doubt its corrosion. Any ideas? I'm thinking maybe a resistor or cable connecting to the board.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

It did turn on when I first got it. But after about 5 minutes it died.

But it doesn't turn on now or does it turn on and then off after 5 minutes?

You originally said that it doesn't turn on, so my answer was predicated for that problem.

If it doesn't turn on as you first said, try the answer below.

@jayeff Doesnt turn on now. Only that first time I used it.

You said "... when I first got it"., which makes it seem like it's a used console. If it is, do you know its history, was it described as fully working etc?

Try the answer below.

If the battery is the problem at least if it starts regularly (after replacing it) and then it turns off later you are a step forward into finding out what else is wrong.

At the moment you can't even get it to turn on and stay on.

Hi @anti11118

Try a full power refresh in case the BIOS has become corrupted and is preventing a normal start.

Here’s the procedure:

a). Disconnect the power to the PSU (if connected).

b). Disassemble the console and remove the coin cell RTC battery from its holder on the motherboard. Here’s the PlayStation 4 Motherboard Replacement guide, that will help.

Unfortunately for you, the coin cell battery is on the underside of the board so the motherboard will have to be completely removed from the case. When the battery is removed use a DMM (voltmeter function) to measure the battery’s voltage. If it is <2.6V DC or if the battery is >4-5 years old, replace it. It is a CR2032 Lithium coin cell battery that is available most everywhere e.g supermarkets

c). Reinsert the coin cell battery into its holder on the motherboard (+ve on top as marked on the battery), then reverse the disassembly procedure as shown in the link above, to re-assemble the console. Reconnect the power to the PSU and check if it turns on OK.
