Why does the computer go off while in the middle of running?

While I am using the computer, it will go black and the whole computer goes off.

Gametech is probably correct about it overheating. When a PowerBook heats to the point that it might damage components, it shuts down. If you give us the last three figures of your serial number, we will be able to identify your exact machine and get you to the correct guides so you can open it, clean the fans and, if needed, clean the vent ports and reapply thermal paste.

If your computer shuts down in the middle of running here are your possible problems:

A) The main factor for laptops is OVERHEATING. Placing the laptop on your lap or bed etc.. blocks the vents from being able to cool the unit. If the computer shuts down on a level surface then you may have a faulty fan.

B) A hardware component may have issues and is shutting the computer down when it is being accessed..
