evap fan not working after board replacement

ge side by side

replaced board, and new evap fan but still doesnt spin. fridge seems to be cooling but obviously not evenly as the water distribution line freezes up because of settling cold.

oem which spun slowly before replacing board. i just put it back in and does not spin at all.

panasonic udqt26ge4 197d2039p006 wr60x10043 evap. 72903

aftermarket which does not spin at all after install.

amazon aftermarket udqt26ge4 1977d2039p013 wr60x10185 evap 622089zt

notes: i had to swap the temp sensor into aftermarket harness, so idk if this affects anything.

also took some voltage readings at the fridge side evap fan motor harness.

Hi @unseenno1

What is the full model number of the refrigerator?

Which board did you replace?

Hi @unseenno1

What board did you replace, you never said?

If it was the main control board did you check that the replacement board was either p/n WR55X10174 (part number for original board used) or p/n WR55X10942C (which now supersedes the original as it is no longer made by the manufacturer)?

If the replacement main control board is the correct one here's the technical service guide for the model series.

Go to p.20 which shows the troubleshooting flowchart for the evaporator fan.

If the everything checks out OK as per the flowchart, go to p.14 to see how to run the diagnostic service tests and check if any errors are being displayed during the tests.

If you find a faulty part that needs replacing, here's the parts list that is useful.

Locate the wanted part in the list and note the part number that is shown with it.

Search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.

GE 200D2260G015 Refrigerator Control Board is what i initially replaced.

Visible Number: 200D2260G015

Visible Number: EBX1005G02

Manufacturer Part Number: GE 200D2260G015

my next step was replacing the oem panasonic evap fan udqt26g34 197d2039p006 wr60x10043 evap. 72903 with:

amazon aftermarket evap fan udqt26ge4 197d2039p013 wr60x10185 evap. 62208zt

and thank you for the information thus far.

It's very strange because the official GE parts list for a GSS25JFPAWW shows that the control board (part ID #801) is WR55X10174 which is like I said in my answer, so I'm not sure why the board you have is different.

by

Are you saying that the board I replaced may not be compatible with the oem or aftermarket evap fan?

by

@unseenno1

I don't why the board that is in your refrigerator is a different number, so it might be different in the way it is wired also and not totally compatible with your refrigerator.

You said "replaced board, and new evap fan but still doesnt spin...".

Did the evap fan work before and then fail with the board that you removed and subsequently replaced with a same model board or has the evap fan never worked to your knowledge?

Every supplier I checked (including GE) shows only the two board numbers (original - board now no longer made and compatible replacement) that are shown in my answer above, as being the ones used (and therefore compatible) with the refrigerator model number that you posted.

Did you follow the "Evaporator fan does not work" troubleshooting flowchart on p.20 of the guide I linked in my initial answer above - as you never said if you did and what you found?

by

The original board I pulled off the fridge is part number is 200D2260G015. I replaced it with the same exact part number board. So yeah it is odd that it's a differently referenced part number. I can upload images of said parts but don't see an upload function.

No I haven not gone through the troubleshooting guide but I will do so. Thanks so far.

Hi @unseenno1

How many cable connectors from the wiring harness are connected to the control board?

Looking at the 2 boards i.e. 200D2260G015 (original board in refrigerator) and WR55X10942C (board shown by all suppliers to be the one used in a GSS25JFPAWW refrigerator), the original has only 5 cable connectors on the board, whereas the designated board for the model as shown by all suppliers has 7 cable connectors, which matches the wiring diagram showing the 7 connectors on the control board on page 25 of 36 in the TSG I linked in my initial answer.
