iPod data pins sticking out. How to fix if fixable at all?

Noticed that my Ipod wasn't getting recgonized by Itunes, let alone any PC at all.

Wouldn't make a 'USB inserted' sound nor show up anywhere in the device manager.

I opened it up and to my surprise found 2 pins sticking out.

I tried pushing them back into the frame with my thumb and reconnected the hard drive and battery to do a USB test into my computer again.

PC actually made a USB sound and an Apple device showed in the Device Manager.

However Itunes still doesn't recognize it and there is no actual lettered Drive listed in the file explorer.

I looked at my open Ipod again and realized that whenever I push the cable in, one of the pins (specifically the right one) gets pushed right back out again.

I attached some pictures, including some before I pushed the pins back in and after.

Is this fixable or a lost cause and I should just replace the charging port altogether?

@pazulay that is a bad dock connector. As you probably already know it is soldered to the logic board ;). You can try and resolder the pins to the board (#3 looks like its broken off etc. ) If you can't, you will need to unsolder the old dock connector and resolder a new one. Better have good tools, a steady hand and a good magnifying source for that repair. Here is a great video on a slightly different board but it is the same way on your board as well. The part is still available at places like this and others.
