silent switch and 'volume up' not working

Is there a way (that has a chance of success) to get the switch and 'volume up' button working without having to disassemble the phone?

Like spraying contact cleaner in - or would that cause more problems

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

The most common cause of failure of these two switches is drop damage. If the aluminum casing is impeding the buttons, you might be able to pry it away from them. If this doesn't resolve the issue, then the switches may have been damaged internally- they are mounted to the rear panel, as shown here:

I would NOT spray any liquid into the iPhone! It is always energized, so you will likely short out the device.

It might be worth the effort to remove the rear panel and attempt to work the aluminum and switches back to their proper shape, and if this does not resolve the issue, the replacement part sold here on iFixit appears to contain new switches:

Check with sales support before ordering to confirm this...

I'm having this problem with the side switch not working. It will switch from side to side but with no change at all. The vibrate stopped working also, is there a way to like go in the settings and turn on the volume manually or do I have to send my phone in or is there a way to do this without having to pay Apple?
