Hi!

Do you get any sign of life at all, any lights that turns, or fans or anything? Has anything happened to the laptop lately, like dropping it, water ingress etc.?

Do you know if the laptop is taking charge and if the power adapter is working?

  • Please check if you have some light indicator that lights up on the charger or by the charger port.
  • Please confirm that the charger is working by testing to charge another unit (or using a multimeter).
  • If this does not work (regardless this good to do), please check that the the charger connector and charger port are clean and free from debris, and the no traces looks broken.

It could be that the cmos battery is discharged (courtesy of the Troubleshooting document on the iFixit device page):

  • If you cmos battery is discharged, your laptop may not be able to succeed its power-on self-test. Please check the voltage for your cmos battery.
  • If you don't have a voltage meter or the if you can confirm that the battery is discharged, then I'd regardless recommend changing the cmos battery. Here is a guide for changing the cmos battery.

It could be a battery problem.

  • Are you aware if the battery is not lasting long at all?
  • Can you use a multimeter to check the voltage of the battery?
  • Please try disconnecting the battery, and then try starting the laptop with the charger plugged in. Here is a battery removal guide.

If the laptop is showing signs of life, it could be a screen problem.

  • If you shine a flashlight at the screen, do you see anything? In that case it could be that the screen backlight has gone bad and you need to replace the screen.
  • Try plugging an external monitor into the laptop and try starting it. If you get a picture/connection on the external monitor, then either the display cable/ribbon that is loose or broken, or it is the whole screen. Try by checking any of the disassembly guides and see if you can find the display ribbon and re-seat it.

Please respond and we will see how we can help you.

Good luck,

Cheers
