Insert keyboard cable into logic board

How do you securely re-insert the keyboard cable into the logic board during a topcase installation?

The replacement board should have a tape type of plastic tab on the cable for handling it. At the the one I did yesterday had one. If not use some electrical tape and make one for handling this difficult insertion.

so you just get it lined up and pull the tape forward? I can't seem to get it in far enough.

The older models of unibody at first did not have the additional tab that Mayer is referring to. If yours is one of those models, use a bit of kapton tape on the wide rear part of the cable so the tape is sticking straight up above the mlb so you can to be able to move the cable and therefore slide the portion into the connector on the board successfully.
