iPad Pro 11" (1st gen) won’t charge

Hi,

I have an iPad Pro 11" 1st generation that almost never charges.

Symptoms

  • Most of the time it won’t charge at all (no charging icon ,Flashing red low battery icon on iPad)
  • Very rarely (sometimes after months of trying), it suddenly starts charging again.
  • But as soon as I unplug the USB-C cable I can’t get it to charge again.

What I already tried

  • Tried multiple USB-C cables (known good cable)
  • Tried multiple USB-C chargers
  • Cleaned the USB-C port gently (compressed air / plastic pick)
  • Force restart (it work one day )

Questions

Does this sound more like a:

  1. battery issue,
  2. or a logic board / charging circuit problem
  3. What simple checks can I do to confirm the cause before replacing parts?

Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

It could be any of either battery, chargng port or motherboard issue. If you can connect it to a computer you can check the battery cycle count and health with a software called 3uTools to rule that out. If you look inside the port you might be able to see if that looks damaged. The majority of charging related issues tend to be the charging port but is a hard one to diagnose 100% without the device.
