Polaroid Sun 600 LMS instant camera. Released 1983.

Why won't the film come out?

When I tried to take a photo, no film came out. The capturing process seemed to have worked, as there were typical mechanical noises to be heard as I took the photo, but other than that nothing else happened. I know it's not the film's fault, it was brand new. How do I fix this?

It's the pick arm - the vintage cameras sometimes have an issue where it's a little bent or need adjustments for the modern Impossible film. I don't have a 600 vintage box camera on hand I can readily check (I DO own a 600LMS from years ago when someone passed and gave it to me) to show but if you look in the back of the camera and see a metal tab that has a "latch", that's the pick hook. You can sometimes bend it back without disassembly of the camera, but you need to watch the mirror. That said, as long as you're careful it can usually be fixed without disassembly, but if the SX-70 I checked has any resemblance to the 600 box cameras (I checked semi modern ones; 2000s OneSteps which do it differently from the 90s and 80s cameras, even the 90s OneStep), it's going to be the metal tab on the left in the back.

That said, try and reset the gearbox first: Repairing Polaroid Sun 600 LMS Gear Train
