I bought an iphone 3gs and when I put my SIM Card in, the 3gs do not recognize the SIM Card and it searched a long time.. and then no network!!
What could it be?????

this is what i would do
- go to settings, general, about, then i see what network the phone is on
- using a sim card of that network, see if i could make a call and recieve a call
- is that does not work i would open the phone and check for any damage, liquid or physical (if you have never opened the phone before, use the ifixit guide to open) (if you do not know what to look for, or what damage is, take a picture and put on here, i will show you)
- check antenna, give it a clean using pure solution
try these, tell me how it goes, i will tell you more

the problem is that I have to activate my phone and therefore I need a SIM CArd but the phone do not register the SIM Card. I think there is no damage in phone..
what is error -3??? any idea?
Okey now I have acitvated the iphone with Redsnow.... but it doesn't know any SIM CARD.... it only writes in the left corner: No network (Kein Netz) even there is a SIm Card in it or not... Is it a hardware problem? If yes.... what can I do??

okay have you tried opening the phone and checking the antenna? the antenna i would check is the one at the bottom, if it has never been opened before it will have a number 7 on the connection, if that looks okay and there is no sign or liquid damage ( liquid damage could look like brown mould or silver grey mould or even discolored) if not try changing the full charging block friend

here are three possibilities available to get this error
1.You mobile phone receives weak signal from near tower so try to Swich off your mobile,wait few seconds and switch on.
2.Your mobile locked to particular network provider
3.Check your sim card was properly insert or not.

This is'nt a anser but it said no signal on my sim card that came with it but when I changed it it had no number on calls and that number didn't work help!
