Which laser should I buy and how to change my ps2 laser?

Hello everyone, Happy New Year!

I have a SCPH-79001, and my laser broke a few years ago. I completely forgot about it until a few months back when my girl wanted to play it. I didn't have time to fix it until now.

My question is: Which laser should I get as a replacement for my model, and is it too hard to replace? I also live in Bosnia and Herzegovina, so it complicates the search.

They are known to fail. And replacing the laser isn’t difficult.

For the PS2 Slim SCPH-79001''https://amzn.to/49lhhfA'', the correct and most commonly used replacement is the PVR-802W laser lens. This laser is fully compatible with the 79xxx series and is widely available online. Replacing it is not extremely difficult, but it does require opening the console and handling the ribbon cable carefully. Also, don’t forget to remove the anti-static solder blob on the new laser before installation, otherwise it won’t read discs. If you follow a guide or video tutorial, the replacement should be manageable even for a first-timer.
