Why can I make/receive phone calls, but can't hear the other party?

After I replaced the battery, with no apparent problem, the phone seems to work for the usual functions EXCEPT when I try to make/recieve a phone call, I can't hear the other party. They can hear me. What did I do wrong? Fixable??

Options

You either did not reconnect the earpeice ribbon cable, or it somehow broke during the removal.
