Wont turn on or charge

I have tried holding down both buttons and that did work for me a few weeks ago but not now. I tried also holding down both buttons and letting sleep one go after 10 seconds but nothing. All I am getting is the battery with the red line and charging sign below but its been two days now. I bought this phone second hand and it worked fine for a good few weeks. I dont think its the battery as it lasts me two days normally. I am pretty useless with phones so please if anyone can help...make it simple?

cheers!!

Grace

grace, first, if your phone does not come on, your computer willnot recognize it. Second, have you tried to charge it on a AC adapter. Also, clean the &#%% connector, make sure that it does not have bend, corroded or broken pins. Clean the inside of the connector with some isopropyl alcohol and/or a small puff of compressed air. Once you have it cleaned and it still won't charge etc., it is very possible that your battery is either to discharged to be charged on a USB port. Or, it is past its lifespan and does not hold, or accept, a charge. I would start by replacing the battery. Here is the guide for it. The battery is available at places like this and many others. Once you exchanged your battery, re-evaluate and let us know. Hope this helps, good luck.
