Repair guides, manuals, and troubleshooting help for the FixHub Power Series | Smart Soldering Iron. Released in October 2024.

Smart Soldering Iron doesn't heat up, blinks blue 3x when on.

I'm using the iFixit Smart Soldering Iron with an iFixit 65 watt fast charger. Plugging them on together causes the indicator LED to just keep flashing blue 3 times fast.

I just updated the firmware and reset settings on the web console.

I'm using the provided USB-c cable.

What am I doing wrong? Why doesn't the manual have the error codes for the LED indicator light in a troubleshooting section?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi! I'm having the same issue - got the station as a christmas present and needed to use it now, but the soldering tip blinks blue and there is no possibility to start soldering. Tried both tips I have but the result is the same.. Please help ASAP - Thanks!

Get in contact with the iFixit support to get a replacement sent out, I am fairly certain it was the USB cable, try a different one

@cocco17, Sorry this is happening. Right now the best option is to contact our support team.

You first want to plug in the charger into the AC outlet, then plug the FixHub station into the charger. Then you should be able to plug in the iron into the FixHub unit.

I am not using a FixHub. I am plugging the iron directly to the 65W USB charger. I'm sure the product page and the guide says it would work? "However, it also works just fine with any power source capable of delivering at least 20W via USB-C PD."

@ikolino - OK, then without the FixHub are you first plugging in the charger into the power (AC) then plugging the soldering iron into it alone?

by

Yes, that is correct. It will pulse blue slowly for a couple seconds, and then flash blue 3x.

by

@ikolino, before you started using the iron with the charger, did you make sure to update the iron to the latest firmware?

by

Yes, like stated on the original post. After the firmware update, it even heated up for a couple seconds! But reverted to 3x blue blinking. I've tried it on different firmware versions to be sure.
