Unfortunately, with the 1st Generation iPod Touch, there is no external volume speaker, and you can only listen to the music through the headphone jack. If your Headphone Jack will not work, then you will need to replace it.

Can you please add more description? Check your settings in the device, try navigating the Volume Up and Down buttons. If you are referring to your headphone jack, you will need to have it replaced. If you are referring to your external sound, you will need to have it replaced.
