What is the model number of the TV?

Is the sound heard when the TV is on?

Have you tried connecting different known working signal sources e.g. dvd player, TV antenna etc or different inputs e.g RF input, HDMI, AV etc to see if you get a picture?

You don't unplug and hold the remote control unit's power button for 1 minute, you unplug and then press and hold the TV's power on/off button (if it has one) for 1 minute
