Launched in June of 2018, the Fire TV Cube is a hands-free streaming media player with Alexa and voice control that allows you to turn on the TV, dim the lights, play and stream music and tv, and other commands.

Performed factory reset now 4 remote no pair, no app use no wifi

I performed a factory reset on my Fire TV Cube, now 4 different remotes won't pair with it. Also the app won't work cause the cube is not connected to wifi. Customer service says I have to buy a new 30.00 remote for it to work. Pulling my hair out now. Anyone can help?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Yes, sometimes that can be software errors, appearing on hard reset, that's because developer never tested how factory reset will affect the device after years of work. You may try to reflash the firmware if it's possible on your device. Or somehow hard reset or reflash the remote, if it contains the secret pair key and refuses to pair.

@pikudo do you have a way to perform the reflash for the remote? I have done the listed on Amazon and on Google/YouTube ways of the back, menu, left. Nothing happened. On the cube it boots straight to a screen that shows create free account or sign in with current account but I can't choose either one cause the remote won't connect.

@dustinr61858 are you able to connect to LAN first and check for any software updates for the device?

by

Unfortunately no, the device and TV are to far away from the modem, and that room has not been hardwired yet.

if 4 remotes won't pair they are can't all be bad, right? So, a new remote likely won't pair either.

It might be good to consider why you performed a factory reset - Why did it need it?

If something was not functioning b4 the reset, and it isn't connecting to WiFi or BT, then you have a hardware failure in the cube.

You didn't say, but I assume you can tell that other parts of the cube are working.

I was having an issue with the device randomly and frequently leaving the current app and going to the home screen. After trying several utility apps, I decided to reset the unit thinking it might help.

I would guess the reason it might be leaving the app, I am assuming the app is connecting to WiFi, is because the WiFi signal was not sufficient, given what you stated above. The reason the remotes are not pairing, as I stated, could be a common issue, or maybe not since we now know the WiFi is weak at the device. The next piece of missing info is were any of the remotes paired with the device previous to your reset? If so, then the reset may have cleared all the paired devices. Now they need to be repaired.
