iPhone 4 Logic Board Speaker Problem

Hi, it seems that the speaker on my iPhone is really quiet and it seems to be the motherboard's problem because i switched it out and the speaker was fine. There seems to be fixes for this problem but it's kinda costly. Do any of you guys have any idea how to repair this issue?

Update

Thank you guys for all your help but i ended up selling the phone.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Gary, not sure what you switched out. The logic board?

by

Yea i switched logic boards from a working iPhone to see if it was the speaker enclosure's problem or the logic board's. It turned out to be the logic board's because the sound was coming out loud and clear from the working logic board.

by

so have you tried the same ear speaker in a difrrent phone?

by

I switched logic boards from a working iPhone 4. It's not the ear speaker but the speaker enclosure that's really quiet.

There are 2 copper contact pads on the underside of the logic board. The only thing I can think is to clean those with isopropyl. Some dust or oils from your fingers may be causing a poor contact to the 2 earpiece speaker prongs.

Hi ReekoB, it work but after a minute there was a ringing/buzzing noise. I cleaned the prongs and the notch where the speaker enclosure gets it's power. After the ringing/buzzing noise stopped the speaker volume became quit again.

Have you still got the original speaker to try again?

by

Yea i have the original, and a new one i got off of ebay.

okay you will never believe this, even i had a customer come in the other day with kinda the same problem, a weird sounding ear speaker, here's what happened, i tried another ear speaker, still the same, tried the customers and the new one in my working iPhone 4, everything spot on, checked the customers logic board in another iPhone housing, amazingly it was spot on, eventually i managed to narrow the problem down to it actually being the ear mesh, i took off the LCD and changed the ear mesh ( the silver peice) and it worked! try it! im not joking it worked!

Hi Krayzee, thanks for the reply but my problem is the speaker enclosure being too quiet. The ear speaker is working properly.

by

Gary i'm a bit confused now. Is it your loudspeaker which is quiet not the earpiece speaker?

by

Yes it's the loud speaker not the earpiece.

Hi the loudspeaker on my phone becomes muffled/ distorted after half way on the volume, put the logic board in a fully working iPhone 4 and had the same problem, iPhone 4 logic board making distorted sound from the loudspeaker after half way on the volume tab, any ideas? And where is the 'underside' of the phone?
