i cloned the new drive a 500 gig extreme, faster than stock, but i put it under the stock drive, aslo included the restore partition as well on the second new drive, but like i said i installed it under the stock drive, ran startup, then selected the second new drive to boot under start up disk, and it booted up just great, only thing i had to do was re register office for mac. then i renamed the drives back to macintosh hd and the old drive just second hd with the restore partition still in place on both drives, could hurt to have it on both drives. my 1 question is, how about the volumes name, the main drive now is called macintosh hd just like before from the stock drive, but the volume path says just "/" while the second hd has

'volumes/second hd"....i guess what i am asking does this make any difference or should i redo the installation and swap drives? something i also noticed that was different than the video and instructions was the hard drive brace for the bottom drive, i did not have to take it out, the second drive just slide right under the stock drive perfectly, then i put it back together, is this ok, or should i have done the grommets and the tray? it does not feel any hotter than before, it does get very warm, not hot to touch. any ideas i would be grateful if i did this OK.

th waysAfter years of retirement, I put up my large windowws computers and just about everything else releated to work, startedd riding can am spders, second child hood, but what I wanted to add that I did a few mods to my apple mini a fews years back, memory, adding second 1 ter hard drive all in this cool little box. I still keep this in my shop here at home, it has been very usfull. I own the apple XR, best iphone ever, even cheaper the than XS and MAX versions. The only real difference that made my mind was do a side by side and see for yourself. The OLED screen alone is a big hunk of those 1000's dollar, 1245 for The MAX in some cases. The RX has everythibg else, really all you are paying for is a really cool cammera, dual both sides I think. the XR does not. I can live without it and the fancy OLED screens for now, I am not a gamer or artist thatbneeds these things, great for the work foce in some areas, just not me these days. I am going to sort of rebuild my iphone 6 and give it to a frieind.

The point I was trying to make was not the phone, it is cool, but its the Mac Mini, its a work. I have made several mds, memory, added a second 500 gig hard drive I think, have not looked in a while. I put up my othern systems, but keep this mac mini with a thunderbolt in my little shop.

To change the name of a drive just click on it twice till the name is in a box rather than an oval. You can then just type in the name you want. Cloning a drive will make the new drive identical to the old one with no need to re-register anything. You can use the free app SuperDuper: http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/S...

Hot drives will shorten their life. If there's room put something between the drives to open the space. Preferably metal.
