Replaced dock connector, now charges from outlet but not computer

My dock connector on my AT&T iPhone 4 stopped working and so I ordered a replacement and replaced it using the instructions on iFixIt. (Great instructions!)

It now is charging when I plug it into a power outlet (which it wasn't doing before I replaced the connector). I charged it overnight, and now am at work and tried to connect it to my computer to Sync, but it doesn't appear as though the phone or the computer recognize the connection. The phone doesn't show the "charging" battery and doesn't show up in iTunes.

I have tried using other cables, different USB ports, and different computers, so I am 99.9% sure it is an issue in the phone itself.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Did I miss a connection somewhere? If it didn't charge at all, that would make sense to me. But, it charges from an outlet, just not via computer, and it doesn't connect to the computer either.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Andy Rusch, sounds like a bad battery or power management IC. I would replace the battery and then re-evaluate.

I could see power management IC, but do you think battery? The battery charges fully and lasts perfectly when charged via power outlet.

How difficult is it to replace the power management IC? I've seen tutorials online, but it doesn't look like iFixIt sells them or has a tutorial, so I'm assuming it isn't recommended.

If it charges and hold a charge you should actually be ok with that. Check your dock connector again. I did not realize that your battery was holding a charge on AC The connect to your computer and the recognition is through your dock connector

Checked the dock connector, degreased the connections, and still only charges from AC. Tried connecting to computer in DFU mode, but iTunes doesn't recognize it and the computer doesn't charge it.

Any ideas?

agree with tamhoangngo on this one, replace /check the dock connector once more.

There is probably an issue with the dock connector. I recommend replacing it with another one.
