dark grey transparent blotch on screen

Hi, I just replaced the home button on an iPhone 4. After turning it back on I have a grey darker transparent area appearing, starting on the left covering around 30 % of the screen. Sorry no photo of it. The area is still functioning and displays fine apart from beeping just darker as the rest of the screen. The area has no sharp edges it is more like blotch spreading out.

Is this a static problem? Did I damage the lcd a bit?

Any feedback would be great.

Cheers Carsten

It sounds like something may be pushing on the underside of the LCD panel. You may want to re-dissasemble the phone and check you se if any screw may be to tight and is causing stress on the LCD or if any cable is not properly seated and is caught between the metal frame and the screen. I had a problem similar to this and it was a piece of plastic that had come off the packaging and was pushing on the underside of the screen. I disassembled it and removed the plastic and it works fine now.

Hope this Helps.
