I have a model 1151, can the hinges be adjusted?

My MacBook pro 17 " model 1151 has become nearly impossible to open or close, the hinges are so tight. I am afraid i will break the display off the hinge bar on the bottom. I see nothing about how to, or even if you CAN adjust the hinge tension. please, anyone ever have THIS problem? i see many referrences to extremely LOOSE hinges, but not ones too TIGHT. So can the hinges/clutch beadjusted to lossen this?

Sounds like you need a little lube on the hinges. The hinges are not adjustable.

Spray a Q-Tip (cotton swab) with WD-40 (light penetrating oil), then press it against the exposed hinge points (not to wet). You'll need to open the cover to get to the other side of the hinge. Don't over do it, give the WD-40 some time to penetrate.

I'll give it a try, I always feel uncomfortable about ANY liquids in a closed case, but this seems the only way. very small amount, and try to ensure there is no residual anywhere but the hinge pin. i HOPE.. Thank you,
