Repair guides and support for top and front loading Whirlpool brand washers.

The sensor, lid, and done lights are flashing. The door is locked.

Our three year old Whirlpool (Model: WTW5010LW0) washing machine is acting up.

The door was locked and not finishing the wash. I managed to get the lid opened sometimes. I could not start a drain and spin or any mode.

It's been a few days, and I am realizing the lights are doing a pattern: Sensor, Lid, and Done flash at the same time; then Done flashes by itself. My friend said that he thinks the error code is "F9E1".

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @fostermama

The status LED pattern you described is an F9:E1 error code which indicates a long drain problem i.e. washer taking too long to pump out the water.

This could be due to a clogged house (laundry sink?) drain pipe (where the washer's drain hose is placed into), a clogged washer drain hose, a clogged/faulty drain pump filter in the washer, a faulty drain pump, loose or faulty drain pump wiring/wiring connection between the control board and the drain pump or worst case a faulty control board.

Here's some information that may help:

Video that shows how to replace the drain pump filter, (if it is faulty and not just clogged). If it is faulty the part number for the filter shown in the video is the one that is used in your model washer. Search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.

Video that shows how to replace the drain pump (or check it's wiring connections etc). If it is faulty the part number for the pump shown in the video is the one that is used in your model washer. Search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.

Tech sheet that describes the procedure for how to enter diagnostic modes to test functions etc and also has wiring diagrams of the major components e.g. drain pump, showing connections on control board etc. - see p.2
