Repair and troubleshooting information for the FixHub Portable Power Station, the primary power source and control interface for iFixit’s FixHub product line. Released in October 2024.

My brand new power station will not power up or charge.

I received the power station two weeks ago but due to holidays been unable to check it out until today.

I am unable to turn on the power station. It does not seem to do anything after pressing the action button. Also tried the 10 second hard reset but nothing happens.

After hours of charging nothing happens. There is supposed to be a battery icon displayed while charging but the screen remains black.

I tested with different -verified working- USB-C chargers and cables but nothing work.

Any suggestions?

The soldering station is alive now.

If you run into the same issue (battery completely drained with an older firmware, mine was 1.2.2), you should:

  • Connect the soldering station to your PC using a USB-A to USB-C cable or adapter. You need to remove USB-PD functionality.
  • Update the firmware to 1.3.2 and not to 1.4.0
  • Charge the battery fully (you can switch to a fast charger as soon as the battery has been able to charge to a decent amount to have the unit boot on battery charge)
  • Update the firmware to 1.4.0

As explained in:

https://help.ifixit.com/article/307-fixh...

Is firmware 1.4.0 boot looping with error B02 & low 0% battery known?

@fhaut Thanks for the update — and sorry you ran into this issue right out of the box. Glad to hear you were able to wake it up again.

If you run into anything else or have questions, please reach out.

@fhaut I have the same problem new out of the box. I will try this fix. Hopefully I can update the firmware from a mac. Thanks for posting this.

It's annoying but actually pretty easy to fix. It shouldn't happen with a device that comes with this price tag though...

I was hoping ifixit would offer a free solder tip or discount coupon for the inconvenience but no luck :(

I wish the USB cable would be a little bit longer as well, eg 20cm extra or so.

Out of the box my unit was "dead" and wouldn't charge. I used a basic USB A charger with an A to C cable. This got the unit to charge some then eventually boot up. Then I could charge on a USBC PD charger, then do the software update. Little bummer for a brand new unit, but firmware update was easy enough.

I still cannot get mine to charge or boot up or connect to computer... Had I known these issues existed I would not have bought one. It is now one expensive paperweight on my desk. I am not very happy about this purchase at all....

@fhaut , so sorry about this. Some batches shipped in deep sleep mode and we're working on the firmware to fix it.

In the meantime, you can follow the steps in this post to get things back up and running.

Please let me know if it resolves the problem.
