Nintendo's first 3DS handheld device released February 2011, identified by model number CTR-001.

Charging light turns on, but power button does nothing

When I insert the charger, the orange light comes on.

Pressing the power button does nothing. The charging light will stay on.

I tried different charges (they work on other consoles), different batteries (they work on other consoles), cleaning the power button pad with isopropyl alcohol, checked the F1 and F2 fuses, charging port, battery port, all are okay

Of course I also tried restarting with the battery out, with and without the sd card.

The sd card by the way, is empty. Not a single folder inside.

What could be the issue and more importantly, how do I fix it?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi Elise!

Usually this is caused by a broken fuse or something, but looks like that’s not is.

Can you check some caps on the motherboard and run some tests?

It is motherboard related anyway. Replacing the motherboard will most likely fix it.

Is the 3DS modded btw?

What caps?

I know it's motherboard related. I used the shell for a different motherboard, it has no issues.

But I want to figure out what it is and how I fix it

Please check the resistors on the motherboard. Could also be the CPU. Did you also checked the traces? If possible, can you share some pictures with us? Thanks!
