The 3rd generation iPhone SE was announced on March 8th during the Peek Performance Apple event. It features an A15 chip and a 4.7-inch LCD display, similar to its predecessor, the iPhone SE 2020.

Can I swap an iPhone SE3's rear casing with an iPhone 8 one?

I have an iPhone SE3 (the 2022 one) and I hate this kind of stupid "midnight blue" color that Apple came up. It looks a bit disgusting. I want to have an iPhone SE 2022 with a pure grey color like the iPhone 8, but I'm not sure whether the rear casing of an iPhone 8 is interchangeable with the SE3.

I think it's identical, since I compared the repair guide pics and couldn't find any obvious structural differences. However, I can't seem to get a picture of a bare casing, so I'm not really sure. Can Anyone confirm this? If not, what do I need to mod to make it fit?

Also, do wireless charging work if the coils are separated by carbon fiber? I found this cool carbon fiber replacement for the glass on the back of the SE3, and I'd like to know whether wireless charging would be affected if I install it.

Any bit of help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

1. Probably not but from pov whether Apple would ever let this happen - certainly not.

2. Should work and likely (unnoticeably) negatively affects charging since conductivity of carbon fibre is generally speaking higher than of glass. Though it depends on the type of carbon fibre, so no clue: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrical...

However, an unnoticeably amount of more current is induced to the (hull) material between charger and the phone's charging circuit / coils. Rather consider the hull's thickness. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inductive_...

If it's actually plastic having carbon look - don't worry at all.

No, there are different motherboard stand-offs on the casing, and the charging port stand-offs are also slightly different.

If you were incredibly skilled with desktop CNC machining, you could probably convert a part, but this hack is NOT RECOMMENDED.

You can reference part compatibility by browsing https://www.mobilesentrix.com/ on desktop while hovering the mouse over any phone model in the drop-down navigation, you'll see what AXXXX (e.g., A1905 -A1907 are interchangeable iPhones 8's ) numbers that are compatible with that category of part.
