Lock/sleep button doesn't function after front panel replacement.

I dropped my iPod onto the floor. It hit the floor dock-connector-down. I just finished installing the front panel, but I haven't applied the adhesive yet. At first it booted straight to my lockscreen, but after realizing the lock switch wouldn't work, I disconnected the short display cable and took a look. I put the cable back, and it booted to a white screen. I know what to do about the white screen, but I can't find anything on the lock switch. Thanks!

Re-connect both cables, check for any broke pins on the logic board connectors.

If it's not a cable issue, it is probably a bad digitizer...they make them in bulk in China, so it's not uncommon to get one DOA.
