White screen on startup, screen replacement didn't fix it.

I have replaced the screen on this laptop once and everything was fine. After a short fall (only a few inches) the screen went white. I have tried other screens and data cables without any luck. Is there anything else I could try to fix this or is it done for?

Try disconnecting the hard drive and booting from your system installation disk and let us know if the screen comes on.

No luck there. It seems to be booting normally, just without data going to the display.

Hook it up to an external monitor and see if the graphic processor is generating a signal. Also please give us the last three figures of your serial number so we can check to see if you might be eligible for an nVidia issue logic board replacement. Did you get any garbled video signals? Why did you originally replace the screen?

Is the nvidia issue present in the white macbooks? I only see references to macbook pros. The last 3 of the serial is 4R1. I originally replaced the display due to a bad backlight. No garbled video signals. It does work with an external monitor.

Apple MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 13" (White-09) Specs

Identifiers: Early 2009 - MB881LL/A - MacBook5,2 - A1181 - 2300

This machine did not have the nVidia issue. Before you replaced the LCD could you faintly see the desktop with the old LCD?

by

Yes, the original replacement still had a faint image, but no backlight. That display also worked for about 3 months before this issue.
