Repair and disassembly information for Google's Pixel 7 smartphone, released in October 2022. Identified by model number GVU6C and GQML3.

C type Charging Port Broken

i would like to replace/ repair the charge port on my google pixel. The c type charge port on the phone (male) is broken therefore inserting the charge cable ( female) does not work. I also need the same port to transfer data from my phone to the lap top or external storage as my screen ( not broken) is no longer responding to my finger interaction therefor can not log in my phone.

I need to recover the data on my phone , i am currently charging the phone with a magnetic docking charger.

Really need help on which parts to but that would help me charge through the port and and download my memory to an external drive/location.

Hiya,

Apologies you are having issues with the USB-C port on your Pixel 7. From research its hard to replace the USB-C port on that device due to it being soldered onto the board. Additionally you require tools such as:

  • Soldering Iron
  • Heat Mat
  • Heat Gun
  • Flux
  • Solder

These can be expensive to purchase if you haven't gotten them already gotten them. Typically to replace a charge port you need to remove the old USB C port using heat and then replace using the new one and then finally soldering it onto the pins/connector. A guide I recommend is: USB C Repair Guide. This doesn't cover Pixel 7 devices but across all phones replacing the USB C report is the same across all devices from what I have seen. If you are unable to do the repair yourself more then often its recommended to take the phone to a electronic store/repair shop and ask for it to be replaced/repaired. Often this is isn't expensive to replace a port, but ask around for quotes to find the best one for you to get the device replaced.

Additionally another reason it may not be able to charge is dust/debris that can collect in charge port causing the phone not to charge. You usually would feel a wiggle or it not sitting in the port to make a good connection. If you use a gentle toothpick/something small gentle scrap the bottom of the USB C port with that tool and gently avoid scraping the pins inside and you should find dirt inside the port. Once removed try charging again and it should work. For a cleaning guide use this: USB C Port Clean Guide

Hope this helps :).
