fan is loud and runs continuously

I had a small water spill - top left side of the keyboard. After letting it dry out for a couple of weeks, it would run with the magsafe cord attached, but only if the battery was removed. With great advice from this forum, I replaced the MagSafe DC-in board (the old magSafe Board DID have some white corrosion on the underside) and everything now works fine, except that the fan is loud and runs continuously - it didn't do that previously. I am so extremely happy to have my macbook up and running again that I can live with the noisy fan, but wonder if I should try and fix that too. Will it hurt anything to just leave the fan alone? Any advice on what to do next, if anything?

Your exhaust vents may be clogged causing it to overheat. I would use this guide to get to them and clean them out and replace the thermal paste: MacBook Core 2 Duo Heat Sink Replacement

checked temperature with iStats? Maybe some heat paste or heat sensores were destroyed and now the MacBook tries to "cool down" even if its not warm

Thanks all for your advice. I also checked with my IT department at work and they said to try resetting the SMC. I did that (the easiest, simplest solution) and it actually worked. I m ecstatic. This forum is fabulous - it solved my original problem - the corroded Magsafe DC-in Board.
