Why can't I restore the iPod Touch a friend gave me?

My iPod Touch said it can't restore because it has a password. But the problem is I know the password and never had a chance to guess it. So how come it was diasbled for 22 million minutes? The iPod was given to me by a friend, and it was used already on his itunes account. Will that affect me from restoring the iPod?

Answer this question I have this problem too

If you don't mind replacing any of the songs or data (I assume this is possible since it was your friends and if you wanted you could just get it from his iTunes again) I recommend you do the following:

Plug your iPod into the computer with iTunes open, reset the iPod by holding Home and the Power Button down together for about 10 seconds, then release the Power button and continue to hold down Home for another 10 seconds.

That'll put it into DFU mode and bring it up on iTunes ready to be restored.

Then you just redownload all the music you want. And boom, you're golden.
