Pwer to phone, but no display

Tried 4 times to make the battery installation work, but every trime we plugged the phone in to charge, it would beep, but the display did not come on. It seems that the ribbon cable (#3) to the display just would not go in & stay in. A teeny tiny piece of white plastic has come off and I guess that's what kept it from connecting properly. We even tried super glue to make it stay in place (our last ditch effort!) but no luck! I'm reluctantly heading to the AT&T store today for a new phone... ;0(

linda, it is possible that the "teeny tiny piece of white plastic" may have been essential. After all, the iPhone is full of those pieces. The #3 connector is for the earpice speaker and proximity sensor. You should try and check your display on a different phone, to determine if it is okay. Also, it would help if you could post an image from here. Make sure that your battery is indeed a battery for the 3g, double check all of your work. If you need the connector on the logic board repaired, contact " hectordtruong" on here. He does board level repair and has a great blog about the repair of connector #3. Search by his user name. His email is in his profile.
