Control panel lights on but dryer will not start?

Occured after replacing drum light which flashed and burned out. Bulb glass broke leaving a mirrored chrome finish on the glass. NOW, NEW DRUM LIGHT STAYS LIT & WILL NOT TURN OFF AFTER CLOSING DOOR. Push button control panel lights show all settings in normal fashion but after pressing start, only hear the beeps without dryer turning on. Do not know how to show error codes and have no maual.

Scott, I deleted my previous answer due to some misinformation I must have given you. Anyhow, I would be looking at the door switch. If your door switch is stuck in the open position, the drum light will stay on, and the dryer won't start since it thinks the door is open.

Hi oldturkey03 & ABCellars:

I had no intention of downvoting your first answer. I'm new to the fixit site and simply pressed the down arrow. Without explanation, it automatically led to the unfortunate result without any check system to confirm the intended action. I regret this mishap and question the way the website is set up.

Both OT3 and ABCellars responses helped and set me in the proper direction. Presenting the possibility that the door switch could have been damaged/welded when the bulb flashed helped. I will focus on replacing the bulb socket and/or door switch.

Regarding the diagnostic test, after Step 2 (pressing More time - Less Time - More Time - Less Time within 5 seconds), the "OE" code appears with all indicators illuminated, NOT "88," per manual. This led to my previous comment that my model maybe newer. WHAT IS "OE"? I don't have the codes.

Thank you both. Scott

Is is quite alright. I just wanted to make sure I did not give you any wrong information. I am currently trying to obtain a newer manual and will keep you informed.

Scott, it appears that the "OE" shows instead of the "88" (as the manual suggested, due to a board revision. If you open and close the door and the display does not change you have a bad door switch. Apparently it does not matter what it shows for as long as it beeps and the display changes with the opening and closing of the door. If it does not you may have a. a bad door switch or b. a bad control board. Use an ohm meter to check for continuity on your door switch. Hope this helps, good luck.
