Camera shutter acting weird.

Alright so a little back story, I replaced the back plate and digitizer on my iphone and everything was working fine. My battery went out so I replaced it a couple days later as well. Once again I tested it to make sure everything was working. I then updated to iOS 5.1.1 and didn't notice any issues until today I noticed the camera shutter wouldn't open. And if it did, the screen was just black. However, if I got into messages > take photo or video, the camera starts and takes pictures fine. When I click to switch camera's (to the one that's facing me when I'm using it) the camera freezes and so does the app. I cleaned the connectors for the camera and restored the phone with no luck. Any suggestions?
