I don't believe cleaning is an option. Mostly, it wouldn't be worth the effort to try. Changing is easy once you can get to them. Remove the wire, unscrew the old one, screw in the new one, reattach the wire. Some cars have 2, or 4 if you have dual exhaust. The key is finding it and having the right articulated wrench to get to it.
