Slightly wet iPod is now completely crazy

Hi, here is my problem :

I got my iPod slightly (barely) wet (it was in my bag wich fell in a puddle of water)

I left it to dry for about 5 days.

Now i Have these problems.

First one : Battery dies in less then a day. (the iPod is 4 months old)

Second one : each time I turn it off, or if it dies, when I turn it back on and I try to play some music, I get this message : Please wait wile your library is being updated (something like that). And then all my music and apps are erased but the iPod still tells me that most of the memory is taken.

Each time it does that I have to restore it to its original settings and resync everything.

Third problem, started occuring maybe a month or two later : When my headphones are plugged in the iPod plays both on external speakers and headphones.

I tried sending it back to apple but they don't wanna repair it cause they say it has got some water in it.

However, i'm not sure that the water is the problem.

1:It was realy barely wet, probably more humidity than actual water.

2:I'm not a 100% sure but i think the battery and library problem was an issue before it got wet. I told that to apple but they won't care, obviously.

Any suggestion ? would jail breaking it solve the problem?

Thanks

With as many things going wrong, you could spend a lot of money on it and get nowhere. Realistically it might be best to sell it for parts. I would contact iFixit and get a quote from them. Here's how to reach them: http://www.ifixit.com/sell

If the tape is red, it would seem that your iPod is water damaged. From what you've described above, I'd say the iPod is shot.

However, there's a thriving market for dead iPods on Craigslist. I've never used iFixit's service, but with other such providers, traditionally you can get more by selling it yourself.

Sorry about the misfortune!

Well, jailbreaking probably won't solve it. When Apple checks for water damage, they look at the headphone jack and the dock connector. Can you use a flashlight to stare down the headphone jack? If the iPod is water damaged, there will be a red dot at the bottom.

Once you've done that, let me know and we can take the next step.
