Hi @keithroper

What is the model number of the desktop?

Also if possible, the make and model number of the motherboard in the desktop? This is usually printed on the board itself.

This answer was originally to another question.

Shorting the Pins:

  • Green or blue wire: One of the power switch wires is typically green or blue.
  • Black wire: The other wire is usually black (ground wire).

To bypass the switch, you need to connect the green or blue wire (power wire) to the black wire (ground wire). These wires are usually located on the motherboard's front panel header.

Do not leave the pins shorted for more than a second, as that could cause electrical damage.

It’s important to replace the faulty power switch at your earliest convenience. If you're not comfortable doing this, or if it doesn't resolve the issue, it may be best to take the desktop to a professional.
