Mother board got wet and LCD screen won't turn on.

Hello, My Iphone got wet recently and so I took it apart to let it dry. I scrubbed the motherboard with high percentage rubbing alcohol and everything. The phone will not turn on, only the screen will not work. I have tried multiple screens. I can here but not see anything. I believe it is because the part on the motherboard where the LCD assembly attaches was ruined when it got wet. You can see some of the motherboard looks black. Is there any way a motherboard can be repaired so that it will be able to display again?

It would be great if you could post an image of the part of your logic board that looks black.

to dkcengizbond: I have already taken the safety metal off and scrubbed the motherboard. Everything looks good on that part. To oldturkey03: The only place that looks damaged is the part where the screen attaches to the board, not the part that is under the metal safety pieces. The two places where the screen attaches to the board are somewhat burnt looking, I srubbed them and so they look better, but still a little damaged.

one more thing: The picture you showed me has more of the metal protective casing off than I am able to remove. I am able to remove the two plates on the other side, and then one plate on the side you showed me. But the bigger metal piece behind the black paper won't come off like the rest. Any ideas?

Hi dear, as i understood u don't have any experience with soldering, will be better u to send this Iphone for repairing or to forgot it. I have similar problem and I spend more than 2 weeks to find any solution but without any success. So sorry to disappoint u, but here are the facts: when only one drop make short cut current is increasing and via low resistance is burned any IC without protection and I can say inside IPHONE have a lot of them :-( and I think to replace main board which is the most expensive part with new one is easy but then no guaranty is not coming problems from cameras or from LCD parts, u can resell your iphone for spare parts, but anyway good luck if u decide to make it working.

Best regards, Kris

jacob190000, yes it can BUT it depends on your skill level. You do want to check on the IC and the coil for the back light. I would recommend to take a look at the backlight IC and coil on the logic board. That repair is a bit difficult due to the fact that those are SMD components. It will require some special knowledge and skills. The attached images shows where those parts are located. I would recommend to take a look at the backlight IC and coil on the logic board. Hope this helps, good luck.

hello Jacob, maybe this can help:

Remove the safety-metal from the motherboard like on the picture oldturkey03 posted.

Get a toothbrush (soft/medium) and brush the dirty areas on the motherboard carefully.

Now take a look at the LCD-flex cable and if you see any dirt, brush it until its gone.

Put the phone back together and keep me updated.
