Won't Register Home and Power Buttons Being Clicked

Whenever I click either the home button or the power button, nothing happens. In order to get the iPod to come on I have to plug it in, but then once I'm on I am stuck on one thing and I can't get out of it. Can I replace just some parts and if so which ones, or would I be better off just to get a new iPod. It got wet once, so that might be part of the problem....

When you say that it got wet once, what happened? Did you clean it after?

by

No, I didn't clean it. It was in a bag with a water bottle that leaked. I just left it because I had a case on it so I don't think too much water got in, and it started acting up after that, but it's been getting better ever since until now.

Michaela, it is possible that you are having corrosion damage to the dock connector as well as battery issues related to the water damage. I suggest that you clean your iPod. I would use the same principal as outlined in in this guide. Use the guides from here to get to the inside part of the iPod. Once cleaned, replace the battery for sure. Re-evaluate for any further damage. Once you have it cleaned, installed a new battery, try to restore your iPod. Hope this helps to get you started.
